I enjoy basing my minis beyond some sand and flock but have recently run into a dilemma:
I am using bark to simulate a boulder- it's nice because it has a good texture and height, is very easy to drill into (and thus mount a mini), and is light weight.
Down side: it is VERY light weight. The mini (base and all) is very top heavy now and will tip with little provocation.
All this blathering leads to my question: what is a good material to put under the base for stability and weight without altering the size of the original base?
Hind sight being what it is, in the future I will plan accordingly and weight the base during construction, but i would rather avoid redoing this one if at all possible.
I have tried: Sand, various putties, left over mini-sprues (the metal ones- even though they aren't that heavy)...
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I know that model airplanes use pure lead weights for balance and the material is so soft it can be very easily cut to various shapes, you might try getting some of that to fill the bottom of the base. _________________ Antony I is!! |

| Excellent idea. I picked up some lead sinkers a while back with the intent of cutting them to fit in the hollow under the base... |
